Chronic Pain

There has been a lot of media attention regarding the treatment of chronic pain and the opioid epidemic in the United States. National surveys have found that chronic pain—defined as pain lasting longer than 3 months—affects approximately 100 million American adults. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in its “Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain.” states that “Non-pharmacologic therapy and non-opioid pharmacologic therapy are preferred for chronic pain.” The report expands on this thought, suggesting that “many non- pharmacologic therapies, including physical therapy...can ameliorate chronic pain.”

The physical therapists at Physical Therapy Plus will work closely with your doctor and use cutting edge treatment approaches to help ease your chronic pain and improve your function. Interventions like Neurological Pain Science Education (educating patients about what pain is and how to deal with it), hands-on manual therapy, dry needling, custom exercise/flexibility programs, aerobic training, and mindfulness training can lead to dramatic reductions in pain.
