EMG / NCS Testing
EMG/NCS Tests, or Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Studies, are tests that measure nerve and muscle function. This test helps determine the origin of pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling in the arms, legs, head, neck or spine. Some of the most common medical conditions that would require an EMG/NCS Test include:
- Carpal Tunnel (hand numbness)
- Tarsal Tunnel (foot numbness)
- Low Back and Neck Pain
- Peripheral Neuropathy (feet and/or hand numbness, weakness)
- Pinched Nerves
In most cases, the test is 30-45 minutes. More involved testing can take up to 45-60 minutes. We will make sure that your doctor receives the results no later than 24 hours following the test. In many cases, the results can be sent immediately after the completion of your test. The test results assist your doctor in correctly diagnosing your condition and also provides valuable information on your neurological and musculoskeletal system. In addition, it may aid in the management of your condition.
